My name is Drew Swift. I've worked on and off for the last few years as an illustrator and concept
artist it's had it's up's and downs but I've enjoyed the process and learned a lot. I've worked in both
studio environments and as a freelancer. I've enjoyed every project and I've been fortunate enough to
be a part of Now I think I will tell you a bit about myself ever since I was a kid I've been involved in
the arts. my first creative outlet was aluminum foil of all things. It was a cheap material that could
easily be sculpted into any form I wanted ( which 9 out of 10 times was a monster to fight my ninja
turtles) all though the first thinking I ever sculpted was the arm of a martian from the old war of the
worlds TV series from the late 80's . Analog 3D is where I began so it seems fitting that it's all
coming full circle.
This Blog will be my platform for my journey into the world of 3d modeling and animation. I'm like
many of you with no formal training in the area, just a drive to learn, grow and share. This is one of
the reasons that I am choosing the open source modeling package Blender here and free Trimble
Sketchup here. At this point I don't really know what else to say except that I will try to update every
Friday with my current progress.
A Tank,
For my first project after spending a few weeks playing around with the basic controls of blender I
decided to start my first real model after following a tutorial video made by Alimayo Arango. I'd
recommend his videos he's very thorough. This was the end result.
Nothing to write home about but it's a start.
On to bigger and better things,
My Current project is a bit more complicated as it involves texturing and rigging. Once again I am
following a tutorial video produced by Alimayo Arango here.
Reminds me of Ed 209
So I've got this model here I built, now what to do? Rig the damned thing.
So I did!
At this point i'm moving on to texturing.
I will update soon. Thank you all very much for viewing my work and if you wish to receive email
updates from me feel free to contact me
